I'm curious if any M.2 slot on a motherboard can work with WiFi cards. I have an empty M.2 slot on my PC, and using a WiFi card would help free up one of my front panel USB ports. My PC setup is a bit tricky since I have a longer distance to my router, and running a cable would be inconvenient due to thick stone walls and an existing vertical mount that blocks my second PCIe slot. Would an M.2 WiFi card work for me?

The compatibility of M.2 slots with WiFi cards really depends on the motherboard model. If you check your motherboard’s specifications, it should say whether it supports WiFi cards in the M.2 slot. If not, you might want to consider using a PCIe WiFi card if you have a free slot. But honestly, the best solution would probably be to run a network cable instead for a stable connection.
Running a 50m network cable sounds tough, especially with stone walls in the way! Sounds like you’ve got a complicated setup, but it might be the best way to avoid WiFi problems if you can manage it.
