I'm considering switching to an AMD GPU instead of sticking with NVIDIA. How do AMD graphics cards perform in virtual reality games today?

It really varies by game, but most VR-specific titles aren't too demanding, so AMD GPUs generally hold up pretty well these days.
I have a 9070 XT and use it with a PSVR2, and it's been pretty solid overall. Just keep in mind that AMD doesn’t support some advanced features like the modded foveated eye tracking on the PSVR2, since they've downsized their VR team. But if you're not reliant on that, you should be good with AMD.
I specifically use the 9070 XT with my Quest 3 and haven't faced any serious problems. There was some mention of a bug related to certain headset refresh rates, but I haven't run into that at all while playing games like Beat Saber and VRChat.
I use a 7900 XT, and while it's okay, I’m planning to switch to NVIDIA soon. There just seem to be a lot of pros that NVIDIA has over AMD for VR.
Honestly, I’d say the main reasons are DLSS support and better performance in productivity tasks. That's pretty much it.
AMD definitely improved their VR performance lately. A few years ago, they struggled with driver issues, but now they perform just fine.

Yeah, eye tracking is mostly a PS5 feature, so it won't work no matter what GPU you get.
