Are DisplayPort Ports Durable Enough for Kids?

I had a little mishap while upgrading my PC with a new M.2 drive. My 10-year-old son tried to hook it up and accidentally jammed an HDMI cable into the DisplayPort on my 7800 XT. He pushed it in pretty forcefully several times before realizing it was the wrong port. I'm wondering how durable DisplayPort ports are. Even if there might be some damage to the pins inside, would that really affect the performance when using the port? Has anyone experienced something similar?

Honestly, the best way to find out is just to test it out. If the port still works when you connect a monitor, you're probably fine. Just check for any visual damage and see if it transmits video correctly.

If the pins are broken or damaged inside the port, it might not work properly at all. Honestly, if it didn’t fit well, it could cause issues down the line, but you won't know until you try it out.

Instead of worrying too much, I’d suggest you just plug in a DisplayPort cable and see what happens. And maybe have a little chat with your son about being more careful next time!
