Are missing capacitors on my i7 6700 CPU a concern?

I recently picked up an i7 6700 CPU for a bargain, but I noticed that it has two large and one small capacitor missing. It's surprising because it still seems to work just fine! I'm wondering if this is something I should be worried about for future performance or risks. I also pushed it to its limits with a stress test for an hour, and nothing went wrong. Does anyone know if this could be a problem down the line?

Missing capacitors might not pose an immediate danger since your CPU runs fine, but those components often provide power stability. You could face issues like data errors or instability under heavy loads later on. It might be wise to keep an eye on it or even think about replacing them if you start having problems.

Just to clarify, if you're unsure about the values of the missing capacitors, it might help to look for a schematic or manual for your specific CPU model. There might not be software that can directly tell you about their impact, but if you notice any odd behavior in the future, it might be worth replacing them.

It’s possible that those missing capacitors are just unpopulated spots on the board. Sometimes manufacturers leave pads that don’t require actual components. Since it survived the stress test, it sounds like you’re in the clear. Still, running a benchmark test like Novabench can help ensure your CPU’s performance is as expected.
