Are my 7800X3D temperatures normal?

I've recently built a PC with a 7800X3D CPU, and it's being cooled by a Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 Evo. While running a CPU-Z benchmark for about 30 minutes, I noticed my temperatures peaked at 84°C, with an average around 80-81°C. Is this temperature range typical? Additionally, while gaming, I average between 67-75°C, but I did see a brief spike to 83°C. Is there anything I should be concerned about?

I think a small undervolt could really help you out. It brought my temps down by about 5 degrees!

Honestly, don't stress it too much—anything under 95°C is generally considered fine for most CPUs. If you're really concerned about temps, you might want to try undervolting it a bit. Lots of people have had good success with that, and it keeps things cool without risking damage.

Just a heads up, the 7800X3D's max safe temp is actually around 89°C, not 95°C. Just a little detail to keep in mind!

Thanks! That helps me to put my mind at ease about these temps.

That's actually pretty common for this cooler on a CPU with that TDP. I undervolted mine, and while it runs a bit hotter under load, it helped reduce the noise significantly since it doesn't rev up like a jet engine. I’m used to lower temps from older systems, so I get how that might feel.

From what I can tell, those temps seem pretty normal for this setup. Some CPUs run hotter than others, so it’s not surprising your 7800X3D is getting up there. Just make sure you're not hitting the absolute maximum temps consistently. If you're coming from a cooler system, it might feel a bit alarming, but it sounds about right for this CPU.

Got it, thanks! I was worried switching from a cooler setup might lead to issues.
