Are my AMD 9800X3D temperatures normal?

I've just switched from Intel to AMD for the first time and I'm a bit worried about my CPU temperatures. I used to have a 14600K and my temps were always between 26-33 degrees at idle and about 82-83 degrees during Cinebench multicore tests. Now, with my 9800X3D paired with an Aouris Elite X870, my idle temps are around 41-44 degrees, and during Cinebench, they peak at 77-79 degrees. I've got a Cooler Master Atmos 360 liquid cooler. Is it normal for my idle temps to be higher, and should I be concerned about the cooling performance?

At a 25C ambient temperature, I’m running my 9800X3D with a pretty modest cooler and it stays around 125W. Yeah, the core design leads to higher temperatures. You’re fine!

I asked a similar question earlier and people said it's pretty normal for AMD. Consider checking into undervolting for potentially lower temps, but some folks warn against that as it might limit your CPU's performance. Just enjoy the power of your setup!

Yeah, I've heard not to undervolt too much since you want to harness the capabilities of that powerful chip. By the way, what cooler are you using?

Don't worry too much, AMD chips are designed to run hotter. Normal idle temps can range from 40 to 55 degrees, and under load, you’d typically be between 60 and 85. What you're experiencing is on the cooler side, so you’re all good!

Those idle temps are pretty common with AMD CPUs. They have a dedicated IO die that uses around 15 watts constantly, which can lead to higher idle temperatures. Good news is, your max temp of 78-79 degrees during Cinebench is well within the safe range since the 9800X3D can handle up to 95C. You have some thermal headroom if you want to overclock with PBO.

Bro, that's just how Ryzen CPUs operate. Those idle temps tell me you have decent airflow in your case, and a temp of 78-79 under load with your cooler is pretty solid. I've got mine running similarly under load—definitely not a problem!

Haha, I’m new to AMD and was a bit worried! Thanks for putting my mind at ease. What cooler are you using?

Your temps are absolutely typical for AMD. They naturally run hotter, especially at idle. Your max temp looks good too. Don't stress about it!
