I just built a new PC and everything's mostly going well, but I'm getting a bit worried about my CPU temperatures. I'm using a 9800X3D with an AIO Kraken 360 cooler (not the elite version). Initially, my CPU's idle temperature was around 35 °C, but over the past two weeks, it's crept up to about 40 °C and is currently sitting at 42 °C. I've heard that 40 °C for the 9800X3D is normal, but I'm concerned since it started lower. Should I be worried about this increase, and is there anything I can do?

It might not actually be idle. Have you added any background apps lately, like RGB controls or Discord? That could be raising your temps a bit. But honestly, 42 °C is pretty cool. Don't sweat it too much.
You're totally fine! If it hits 95 °C, then we can talk, but 42 °C is nothing to stress about at all.
Honestly, those are solid temps. If you're really worried, check your startup services in Task Manager. You might have some stuff loading up that you don't need right away. Just keep an eye on it!
Your temps are quite normal! Just keep in mind that thermal paste can change over time, plus your AIO cooler might warm up as it reaches equilibrium. Also, consider the ambient temp in your room; that affects everything!
Interesting about the thermal paste! I didn't know that could make a difference.
Yeah, my idle temps go up too when I have a bunch of stuff running. Good point!
