I've built my PC back in 2019 and recently noticed some stutters when gaming. To troubleshoot, I used HWiNFO to check the temperatures while playing Hogwarts Legacy, and I'm seeing some high readings. Here's what I have in my build:
- AMD Ryzen 9 3900X cooled with a Kraken X72 AiO.
- Gigabyte RTX 2060 Super Windforce.
- 32GB DDR4 RAM running at 2666MHz.
- Two NVMe drives, one for Windows and another for games.
The CPU temperatures look fine, sitting around 40-55 °C. However, my GPU temperature is quite high, fluctuating between 82-88 °C, and its hotspot is reaching between 100-108 °C. Is this normal for my setup, or are these temperatures too high? Could the age of my graphics card and potentially degraded thermal paste be contributing to this? I'm open to any suggestions or additional questions! Thanks for the help! 🙂

Those temps are definitely on the hotter side! You might be experiencing thermal throttling. Have you checked what your GPU clock speeds are when it hits those high temperatures? That can help determine if it's affecting performance.
Sounds like your GPU is indeed getting too hot. Make sure to look into your GPU's fan curves and check if there's enough airflow in your case. Optimizing those could help bring the temperatures down a bit.
Yeah, your GPU is running hot. While replacing the thermal interface material (TIM) may help with temperatures, it won’t necessarily fix the stuttering. The 2060 only has 8GB of GDDR6 RAM, which can affect your performance in demanding games like Hogwarts Legacy, especially if you’re trying to run it at 1080p.

During gameplay, the current clock speeds were around 1500-1600 MHz.
