Hey folks! I recently got my hands on a ROG Maximus z790 Hero motherboard, along with 32GB of DDR5 RAM and an RTX 4070 graphics card. I'm planning to use this setup mainly for single-player gaming, some light multiplayer, a bit of photo editing, and maybe experimenting with self-hosted applications in containers. I'm trying to figure out what Intel CPU to get. I'm leaning towards an i7, but do you think an i5 would suffice? Also, how important are the efficiency cores, and what about the different generations? If you know of any good deals, I've noticed that Newegg has a promotion for free 750W Rosewill PSUs with 12th generation Intel chips. What CPU would you recommend for gaming with my setup?

Honestly, I think the 14600K or its F version provides stunning performance, especially for gaming. I haven't had any issues with it, and it should handle everything you throw at it with ease!

The 14600K is a fantastic choice! It offers great performance and you'll be more than satisfied with your gaming experience on it. A lot of folks here seem to agree on that, so I think you’d be in good hands with it. Keep us posted on how it runs!

I'd echo what others have noted—both the 14600K and 14700K are excellent options. You won't regret going with the 14600K for your needs! Just make sure to give us an update on how it performs after you build it!

I would also recommend considering the 14600K or even the 14700K. The 14600K is pretty solid and doesn't necessarily need a BIOS update, though it's always wise to do it anyway just to stay safe. Personal preference here, but both are solid performers!

Yeah, upgrading the BIOS is definitely on my to-do list once I get everything set up!
