I'm looking to upgrade my really outdated motherboard and CPU. Right now, I'm considering the Asus TUF Gaming B550M-Plus Wi-Fi II along with the Ryzen 5 5600. Do you think this is a good combination? How do these parts stack up individually? I'm not on a tight budget but I'd prefer not to overspend on the upgrades. My current GPU is an RTX 3060 with 12GB. Any insights would be appreciated!

Check if your current setup is bottlenecking your GPU before upgrading. If it's not, an upgrade might not be necessary right now. If you do go for the AM4 upgrade, your selected motherboard and CPU would definitely pair nicely with the RTX 3060.
Your choices are solid, especially if you're mainly upgrading from a much older setup. While the Ryzen 5 5600 is a great chip, many folks upgrading from AM4 prefer the 5700X3D due to its better performance.
Before you decide, what are you currently running, and what do you mostly use your setup for? Sometimes, scoring a used AM4 bundle can be a good deal, but going new might not give you the best bang for your buck compared to newer lower-end options.
If you're comfortable sticking with AM4, then go for it. Just know you're on the older platform.
Honestly, I don't think investing in an AM4 build is the best move at this point. The AM4 platform is nearing its end, with production winding down and prices on the rise. If you're considering long-term upgrades, I'd suggest looking into an AM5 build instead; it's the future, and you'll have more options for upgrades for years to come.

Any tips on good budget AM5 motherboards?
