I've noticed that in discussions about email servers, people often reference Microsoft Exchange or Exchange Online. Since I'm not a sysadmin and just curious, I wanted to know if anyone here is running an email server on Linux or other platforms. I realize managing your own email server isn't easy and spam filters can make outgoing emails tricky if your server isn't from a well-known provider. I'm particularly interested in hearing about any Linux-based enterprise software alternatives to Exchange, or any experiences you have with other options. Also, please, no straightforward answers like 'we use Google Workspace.'

While there are alternatives, if you're handling a larger setup, it’s often more effective to stick to big providers. They manage the minor details and ensuring good security protocols, like Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), can save you a lot of time and resources. I’m not thrilled about it either, but practicality takes over.
Totally agree! Even if it's not Exchange, I still believe email is better handled in the cloud than on-premises.
