I'm looking for a toy that would help kids learn how to build a PC, made from materials like wood or plastic. I have a friend in my IT class with a toddler who's interested in playing around with the concept of PC building. Ideally, this toy would teach them about different ports, cords, proper assembly procedures, troubleshooting, and more. I doubt such a specific toy exists, but given the innovative products out there, I'm hoping there might be something on the market.

While it might not be exactly what you're after, I remember seeing someone who 3D printed dummy motherboards and RAM sticks for PC case design. There was a lot of interest in buying these at the time, so you might find some cool resources if you look around online.
I've heard a lot of people suggest Lego too, but I get your concern. Since your classmate wants to teach about specific connectors, they could use some Lego pieces creatively. For example, a one by two brick and some rope pieces could represent wires and help illustrate how everything connects.
I think Lego would be a great option here, especially if you use some Technic pieces in the mix. It’s fun, and even if it doesn’t cover all the exact connectors, it offers a hands-on way to explore building concepts.
