Are There Limits on Conversation Length with ChatGPT?

I've been working on a story for about a year and a half, and I've generated around 80,000 words using ChatGPT. Recently, I encountered a message saying I've reached the limit for messages and it suggested starting a new conversation. I'm curious if there are actual limits on how many words I can use in a single conversation? My story is almost finished, and this limitation is a bit frustrating.

I recommend breaking your story down by chapters. Start a new conversation for each chapter and create a summary for ChatGPT to refer to. This way, you'll keep everything organized. Good luck, 80,000 words is impressive!

You could copy everything from your conversation and save it in a document, then upload that as a reference for any new chats. When starting a fresh conversation, you can refer back to specific sections by summarizing them, so ChatGPT can pick up where you left off.

Yes, there is a limit on how long a conversation can be. Once you hit that limit, you may find that the earlier parts of the chat get less relevant for continuation. It's a good idea to manage your project across multiple conversations and summarize key points along the way.
