I'm new to PC building and recently bought a prebuilt without doing much research. Its original specifications were a Ryzen 7 8700F, an RTX 5060, 16 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB SSD. I'm considering upgrading to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, a Radeon RX 9070 XT OC, 32 GB of RAM, and 3 TB of total storage. I already added a 2 TB SSD alongside the original 1 TB drive. Do these upgrades make sense, and is there anything else I should check before installing them?

Those upgrades are generally reasonable, especially the GPU and RAM, but it’s worth checking the value before spending more. The 8700F and 7800X3D are on the same AM5 platform, so you’re upgrading within a similar generation rather than making a complete platform change. Make sure the prebuilt has a suitable power supply, enough case space and airflow for the 9070 XT, adequate CPU cooling, and a motherboard BIOS that supports the 7800X3D. Your storage plan is also fine: adding a 2 TB SSD to the existing 1 TB drive gives you 3 TB total.
Yeah, I bought the prebuilt because I work a lot and thought building a PC would be too difficult. I paid about $1,600 for it and later realized I should have researched more before buying. I’ve already installed the extra 2 TB SSD alongside the original 1 TB drive.
