I recently encountered a frustrating issue with my friend's ASUS TUF laptop. While performing a Windows 11 update, the laptop crashed and powered off just before completion. Now, it won't even POST. There's no strange smell, noise, or heat indicating hardware failure, but pressing the power button seems ineffective. When I long-press the power button (about 10 seconds) and then close and reopen the lid, the keyboard RGB lights turn on and the laptop powers up for only 2-3 seconds before shutting down again. This happens whether plugged in or on battery. I have already removed the battery and drained any residual power, and I've tried powering on without the battery as well, but nothing changes. I also pressed F2 and Del repeatedly during the brief light-up phase in hopes of accessing the BIOS, but no luck there either. I even attempted to boot from a Windows 11 USB, but it still won't POST. I pulled the SSD and tested it in another PC, where it passed a quick repair and worked fine, allowing me to back up the data. However, putting the SSD back in the laptop didn't resolve the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like the laptop might have experienced a hardware failure coincidentally during the update. It happens sometimes, especially with older machines. Have you tried testing the power supply? That's usually a good first step when troubleshooting.
You're not the only one dealing with this. My ASUS Strix machine got messed up after an update too, and even a tech couldn’t fix it. I ended up having to buy a new laptop. It sucks how these updates can wreak havoc without any warning.
If it was the update's fault, shouldn't there be some responsibility on Windows' part? But considering my friend's laptop is around 5 years old, it could just be bad luck that it failed during the update.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely check the power supply!
