I'm looking for some guidance on upgrading my CPU and motherboard to fully utilize my new RTX 4060. Currently, I'm running an i5-7500 on an ASUS Prime B250-Plus, which is bottlenecking my performance. The CPU is maxed out while the GPU is hardly working in modern games. I have a tight budget and need to stick with my existing 16GB of DDR4 RAM. Should I go with the AMD route and get a Ryzen 5 5600 with a B550 board, or should I opt for Intel's LGA 1700 and go for an i5-12400F with a B660/B760 DDR4 board? What would give me the best value and performance? Any budget-friendly motherboard recommendations would also be appreciated!

Totally agree on the 5600; it's a straightforward choice. Just double-check the speeds and timings on your current RAM to ensure it pairs well with the new setup.
Performance-wise, the AMD and Intel options are pretty comparable, so I'd suggest going with whatever you can find for a better price. That said, if you're really into gaming, try to balance cost and future-proofing in your decision.
I’d lean towards AM4 for this upgrade—B550 boards are pretty affordable, sometimes under €100, and you might even find one used for about €60. Look for a board with 4 RAM slots so you can upgrade down the line, and consider a used 5700X as well for a good price!
Both options are pretty solid, but if you're looking for the best value, the Ryzen 5 5600 with a B550 board could be a bit cheaper overall. You might also find used AM4 boards that will cut costs even more. If you want a significant upgrade, consider Intel's 12600KF or 13600KF—they're really impressive CPUs on the Intel side!
If you want my take, go with the LGA 1700 and a B760 board. There’s a solid B760 DDR4 board on Amazon for just $99, and you can grab an i5-14400F for around $209. The Intel route generally offers better performance with this GPU. Plus, you'll have the option to upgrade to DDR5 in the future if you need to.

That's a great point! Having that upgrade path with LGA 1700 really gives it an edge. It seems like a smart choice for the long run.
