Asked By PixelProwler93 On

I'm looking to build a PC that can handle both gaming and 3D modeling using software like Blender, Substance Painter, and ZBrush. My friend suggested the Ryzen 9 9950X, which is a solid choice, but I'm curious if there are any less expensive alternatives that would still deliver good performance. Thanks for any advice!

Go for the fastest CPU you can afford! Even the 7000 series is worth considering if your budget allows. More cores mean more efficiency in getting tasks done, but if it’s not that critical, the 9700X could also be a good option.

If you're focusing on gaming, the X3D CPUs are fantastic. However, if 3D modeling is just as crucial for you, consider the 9900X3D or 9950X3D. A standard CPU might also suit your needs if modeling is a priority and you'll be gaming at higher resolutions, where the X3D's advantages become less noticeable. You might want to check this Blender benchmark to help weigh performance against cost: [benchmark link].

What price range are you considering? The 9900X3D is slightly less powerful than the 9950X but more affordable. It balances gaming and productivity well with its 12 cores.

Honestly, the 9900X3D is quite underwhelming. If you're into gaming, consider the 9700X3D instead. For heavy rendering, the 9950X is better priced and more efficient.

Don’t overlook Intel! The Ultra 7 and Ultra 9 CPUs are also solid choices for gaming and productivity at lower prices than the Ryzen 9s right now.

The 7800X3D is another solid recommendation if that's within your budget. It performs well across various tasks.
