Best CPU Options for Future-Proofing with RX 9070 XT?

I'm gearing up to build a gaming PC, primarily to handle 1440p gaming without stress for the next few years. So far, I've picked up an RX 9070 XT and have 32GB of DDR5 RAM. I'm still looking for a CPU, and I've got my eye on a few options: Ryzen 5 9600X ($250), Ryzen 7 9700X ($360), 7800X3D ($470), and 9800X3D ($520), all prices in USD since I'm in Argentina.

I know the 9600X is a strong performer now, but how might it hold up in five years? I'm wondering if 6 cores will still be sufficient, or if it's smarter to invest in an 8-core option. The price difference in going for an X3D variant is pretty significant, and while I recognize they're top-notch for gaming, I'm confused if their performance justifies the cost or if it's more of a luxury. I don't often play competitive or CPU-heavy games, usually, I enjoy story-driven titles like Resident Evil Requiem. However, I'm anxious about future titles like GTA 6 potentially being too demanding.

From what I've read, the 9600X sometimes competes well against the 9800X3D depending on the game, but I worry about long-term performance bottlenecks. Given my situation, should I opt for the more affordable 9600X or splurge on the 7800X3D or 9800X3D? Any advice on what to consider would be appreciated, especially if I'm thinking of buying these components piece by piece. I still need additional parts like the motherboard, PSU, cooler, and a 1440p monitor. So what would you do in my shoes?

If you're planning a long-term build, the 9800X3D is your best bet for future-proofing. If you’re okay with upgrading sooner, you can settle for a cheaper option like the 9600X now and still get decent gaming performance.

I've been rocking an Intel i5-11400 for my gaming needs, and it's been solid for almost 5 years now. I’m still not looking to upgrade anytime soon. If the Ryzen 7700X is in your range, you should definitely consider that too!

The new Intel Ultra series is impressive for the price. If you look at the Ultra 7, it performs similarly to the 9800X3D for around $300, which might be a great option if you're open to switching brands.

Between the Ryzen 7700X, 9700X, or the 7800X3D, I'd say any will perform well with the 9070 XT. The 9700X is actually a low-power beast, very efficient for gaming, so it could be a smart choice for your setup.

Going from 6 to 8 cores won’t give you a huge frame boost for gaming, so the 9600X is a good pick. But if you can swing the extra for the X3D chips, you’ll definitely notice better performance in many games, especially for smoother gameplay.
