I'm new to building PCs and I've currently got an RX 7800 XT paired with an Intel i5-13400F CPU. I want to upgrade my CPU without changing my Intel motherboard in the near future. I'm aiming for a setup that plays smoothly at 1440p. I'm not too concerned about the budget and wouldn't mind a bit of overkill on performance to avoid needing another upgrade soon. I was considering the i7-14700K, but I'm wondering if that's overkill. I'm also open to enhancing my cooling system but prefer to steer clear of water cooling for now. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Before you decide, make sure to check the VRM quality of your motherboard. You want to ensure it can handle whatever CPU you choose. The 14600K looks like it’s priced well right now and should pair nicely with your RX 7800 XT, just verify your motherboard can support it before making a purchase.
If you’re on an i5-13400F, it might be better to look at the i5-14600K or 14600F. They offer great performance for gaming, especially at 1440p, without the extra cost of the i7-14700K, which might be more than you need. Plus, the gains would be minor when compared to your current setup.
I agree. The 14600K is a solid choice and will give you a nice boost while also being budget-friendly!

Thanks for the tip! I'll check my motherboard's specs.
