Best CPU Upgrade Options for My Setup

I'm considering upgrading my CPU and currently have the following specs: an X570s motherboard, Ryzen 5700G, Corsair 850W power supply, EVGA GeForce 3070 FTW3, and 64GB of Corsair Dominator DDR4 RAM. I've noted that I should stick with the 5000 series for compatibility. The Ryzen 5700X3D looks promising if I can find a decent price, and the 5950X could also be a strong alternative. What are your thoughts on these options? Did I overlook any important details?

I would suggest considering a new motherboard chipset like LGA1700 or AM5 in the long run. But if you're set on keeping your current motherboard, checking for deals on the 5950X might be worthwhile. You won't see a huge difference compared to the 5700X3D. Just a heads-up, soon you might want to upgrade your 3070 if you're aiming for anything above 1080p.

For gaming, I'd definitely recommend the X3D variant. It's pretty much the daily driver for performance these days. If you're dealing with heavy tasks, then the 5900X or something more powerful might be a better fit for you.

That sounds like the consensus. Just need to be patient and wait for those prices to drop.

If you're looking for a lot of cores, the 5900X is a solid choice along with a good cooler like the Thermalright Peerless Assassin or Phantom Spirit. The X3D is worth it if you can find it at a reasonable price. The 5800X could work too, but keep in mind the 5700G is still only about 15% behind the other non-X CPUs when it comes to gaming, so focus on the X3D for a significant boost or go for the 16-core option if you're into rendering.

That X3D is sitting at $460 on Newegg now. I'm holding out for Black Friday to see if it dips!
