Best CPU Upgrade Options Without Buying New RAM

I'm looking to upgrade my CPU but want to keep my current RAM setup due to high prices. My specs are as follows: Intel Core i7 8700, AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT GPU, MPG Z390 GAMING PLUS motherboard, and I'm using four 8GB sticks of Corsair DDR4 3200 RAM. The i9 9900K seems to be the most economical option that fits with my build. However, I'm open to suggestions for a new motherboard and CPU combo if it offers better performance than my i7 8700K. I really want to avoid buying new RAM at current prices! Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Honestly, if you're looking for performance per dollar, you might find that upgrading to the 14600K, LGA1700 motherboard, and a cooler can give you better value than the i9-9900K. It’s a worthwhile consideration since it'll handle hyperthreading better too!

The MSI DDR4 motherboard for about $99 paired with a 14600K at around $150 is a steal! Plus, you'll see better speeds compared to your 8700 that doesn’t support hyperthreading, and I've had stability issues with the 9900K in the past.

If you want to stick with DDR4, consider the 5700X3D. It’s a great option that won’t require you to change your RAM. It can give you a nice boost in performance without all the extra costs.

Thinking about the 14600K with a DDR4 motherboard could be a smart move for a better performance. LGA 1700 is your best bet right now while keeping your RAM intact, and it’ll outperform your current i7.

Totally agree! The 14600K paired with a budget-friendly motherboard could provide significant benefits over the i7, especially in gaming.

Upgrading to the i9 9900K is a solid choice since it's compatible with your motherboard. That said, it isn't the most economical option right now. You might want to hold onto your current setup until RAM prices stabilize. Better to be patient than dive right in!
