I'm thinking of upgrading my graphics card for 1440p gaming. Currently, I have a GTX 1650 Super with 4GB of VRAM, but I want something that can match or come close to the performance of an RTX 4070 or 4070 Ti. The issue is, the 4000 series cards are pretty pricey right now. Are there better alternatives that have similar performance, preferably in the £450 (or about $620) range? Just to give you some extra info, I have an Intel i5 10400 processor and a 650W power supply.

Consider the RTX 5070 or an AMD alternative that won't break the bank. Honestly, there’s no point in going for the expensive 40 series right now.
How about the RTX 3060 Ti? It’s pretty solid for 1440p games too.
The 5070 seems to be the fastest option within your budget, but just remember that its 12GB VRAM might struggle with some AAA titles at ultra settings and ray tracing. The extra cost for the 9070 might not be justified for just a slight graphical improvement.
If you can wait, I recommend checking out the 5070 Ti or the RX 9070 XT. If that’s not an option, the RX 9060 XT with 16GB VRAM could work well for entry-level. Last-gen cards like the 7800 XT or 7900 GRE/XTs are also good if you find a good deal.
Just a heads up—the RTX 4000 series is discontinued, so the prices are inflated due to limited stock. Keep an eye on the upcoming 5070 and RX 9070 options; they might be worth it.

Do you think waiting a year for the 50 series might help with pricing, or will it just stay high?
