Hey everyone! I'm on the hunt for a reliable laptop that can handle my day job as a sysadmin and also support my mobile IT work. Here are my must-haves:

- An integrated RJ-45 ethernet port
- Charging through a USB-C port
- A backlit keyboard with a numeric keypad
- A sturdy business-grade build (no issues with the LCD hinge)
- Upgradeable components (no soldered RAM or SSD)
- Good battery life of around 6-8 hours
- Budget is between $600 and $850 (I'm okay with new or refurbished units).

I'd really appreciate any model recommendations that fit these requirements or warnings about models to avoid. Thanks in advance!

Check out the Lenovo ThinkPad E16, or the T16 if you're able to spend a little more. They're solid options for IT tasks.

Consider browsing eBay for used models like the Lenovo T Series. You can find affordable options, and a separate external numeric keypad could solve the keypad issue.

I think your budget might be a bit tight for a new, business-grade laptop, but you might find a refurbished Latitude 5550 that fits. Honestly, I’d suggest skipping the numeric keypad and opting for a 14" model instead. It’s lighter and easier to handle day-to-day, plus the keyboard layout is usually better than those with a full-size option.

If you can stretch your budget a bit, the Lenovo T-series laptops pretty much check all your boxes. Just know that you'd likely need to go for the 16" model to get a numeric keypad.

For a lower-end choice, you could look at the Dell Latitude 5520. Depending on the specs, you might even snag two within your budget. Also, the 5540 is a decent step up for a little extra.
