Hey everyone! I just dug up my old HP Pavilion x2 10-N102NA 2-in-1 tablet, and I think it could be great for school. Right now, I'm stuck using my gaming laptop with a battery life of only 2 hours, which isn't ideal for classes. I also picked up a Samsung tablet, but can't use desktop shortcuts on it, which makes Notion pretty frustrating.
I'm hoping to repurpose this HP tablet, since its specs are pretty low: it has an Intel Atom x5-Z8300 CPU, 2 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of eMMC storage. I mainly need it to run the desktop version of Notion, access my school's e-learning platform, stream some YouTube videos occasionally, and use it as a tablet sometimes.
I'm new to Linux, so I'd love any recommendations for a lightweight distro that can handle these tasks while keeping touchscreen functionality and leaving enough storage for my documents. Thanks!

Definitely check out Puppy Linux or antiX. Both are really light and should work well considering your tablet's hardware constraints!
Be cautious with the Atom CPU; while it's 64-bit, some systems only support 32-bit OS. With 2GB RAM, modern web browsing will get sluggish. I suggest Puppy Linux as it’s designed for low-end devices and can run from USB/SD cards for extra storage. You can even set up a swap file to enhance performance!
Zorin Lite worked well for me on an HP Steam Notebook with similar specs. It has enough storage and 2GB of RAM with minimal hiccups. Also, MX Linux is fantastic for older hardware; it runs smoothly but has a bit of a dated interface. Linux Lite is another solid choice if you're looking for something user-friendly.
How about Mint XFCE? It’s lightweight and user-friendly. Alternatively, a minimal Arch installation with a very lightweight desktop environment could also work for you.
You might want to consider a minimal Debian install or Sparky Linux. They can be pretty light on resources while still giving you access to the applications you need.
