Best Lightweight Linux Distro for My Old Laptop?

I've been using an old laptop and recently switched from Windows 10 to Linux Mint. The main goal was to game on XCloud, which was tough due to my CPU being a bottleneck for video decoding. Since the switch, I've noticed an 80% improvement; I can game smoothly using the Edge browser with a special extension, and I downgraded the stream resolution to 720p. Overall, the laptop feels faster. However, there are still some lags and CPU bottlenecks. I'm considering moving to an even lighter distro that remains user-friendly, as I'm not very tech-savvy. I'm looking for a good-looking desktop environment since this could be my go-to for studying and gaming. I've thought about Mint with Xfce. What other lightweight Linux distros could work well for me? Here are my specs: CPU: Intel Core i3 370M @ 2.40GHz, RAM: 8.00GB, Graphics: 512MB ATI AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series (Sony).

Awesome job on the performance upgrade! Going to Xfce should help improve CPU utilization a bit, but remember, lighter distros focus primarily on older systems, which might not boost XCloud gaming that much. Just ensure you back everything up before making changes. You're already doing great with XCloud on your old laptop—it's a testament to your skills!

Yeah, it took me a while to figure out that XCloud is pretty CPU-intensive for streaming. I think trying Xfce will be a step in the right direction!
