Best Lightweight Linux Distro for Streaming on an Older Laptop?

Hey folks, I'm trying to breathe new life into my old Acer Aspire 7552G-8061 laptop. Here are the specs: it has an AMD Phenom II N950 Quad-Core CPU, Mobility Radeon HD5650 GPU with 1GB, 8GB of DDR3 RAM (which I've upgraded but forgot the speed), and a 1TB Seagate HDD. I initially upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, but honestly, it's been a nightmare since that update a few months ago. The laptop used to handle things just fine on Win7, but now it struggles even with basic tasks. I want to turn this machine into a media center that can stream video content directly to my TV, ideally handling 1080p via HDMI and using a chrome-based browser for streaming. I've been exploring lightweight Linux distros, hoping I could find something like Linux Lite or maybe Bazzite that would suit my needs. I'm looking for suggestions on a user-friendly distro that can help me achieve a smooth streaming experience without needing constant updates. Any tips or recommendations? Thanks a ton!

You might be overthinking this! Why not create a live USB with Ubuntu and see how it performs for your needs? It could make things a lot simpler before diving into a full installation.

True, linux can be daunting. But the flexibility is worth it! Experimenting with different distributions might yield a better experience than sticking with just one.
