Hey everyone! I have a couple of old laptops lying around, a Samsung notebook rv510 and an HP 2000416DX. I'm looking to repurpose one of these and I'm curious to know which laptop would be better for running a lightweight Linux distro for everyday tasks. Any recommendations on both the laptop and the operating system?

You might want to check out CachyOS with the XFCE desktop environment. It's pretty lightweight and should work well on older hardware!

Are there any specific hardware requirements for CachyOS?

It really depends on the desktop environment you choose. XFCE and LXQT are solid lightweight options. If you want simplicity, you can also go with something like a minimal Debian install. Just a heads up, Linux Mint might be too heavy for your needs since it can be a bit cluttered.
