I just got a laptop and I'm looking for a Linux distribution that can help it perform better. I've tried Linux Mint, but it's still pretty slow for my needs. Honestly, I just want something basic to watch videos, listen to music, view files, and maybe use Discord. My laptop has an Intel Celeron N4000 processor and about 6GB of RAM. I'm not too picky about looks, but I don't want an interface that feels outdated like Windows 98. Any recommendations?

You could also try FydeOS, which is a spin of ChromeOS – it’s lightweight and might be good for web browsing and using Discord without much lag!
If you're looking for something minimal, Arch Linux might suit your needs. It has less bloat and you can customize it to avoid that old interface look.
I run MX Linux XFCE on my old laptop with 4GB of RAM, and it works fine! If that doesn’t click, check out the distro selection page for other lightweight options.
You might want to check out MX Linux with the Fluxbox or XFCE desktop environments. They’re lightweight and should run well on your hardware.
Lubuntu is another great choice. It’s specifically designed for older computers, and users have had good experiences with it when it comes to performance.
Yeah, Lubuntu really shines on laptops with limited resources. It's worth a shot!
