I'm trying to find a Linux distribution that will run well on my older ASUS A6M laptop. Here are the specs: it has a Sempron 3400+ processor, GeForce 6100 mobile graphics, 3GB of DDR2 RAM, and an 80GB hard drive. Any recommendations?

I recommend giving Peppermint OS a shot! It's lightweight and great for older hardware. Both Bodhi and Linux Lite are solid alternatives too if you want something different.
Have you thought about Debian? It can run pretty smoothly on older devices.
The desktop environment you choose is often more crucial than the distro itself. Consider something like Debian or Fedora but with a light desktop. It really depends on what applications you plan to use.
I'm mostly going to use it for a web browser and maybe some old games—nothing too heavy.
MX Linux can be really snappy even on older hardware. I tested it on a Chromebook with only 2GB of RAM, and it ran nicely, though the UI might feel a bit dated.
Keep in mind that the Sempron 3400+ is a 32-bit CPU, which limits your options. Browsing the modern web on such hardware will be a challenge since it’s a single-core processor from 2006.
I understand, but I don’t want to just dump it. It’s still functional, minus the battery, and I want to get rid of Windows 7 since it's not supported anymore.
Plus, it looks like your CPU does have 64-bit support—so you might have a few more options than you think!

I'll look into them. Thanks!
