Best Linux Distro for Gaming and Programming

I've been using Linux as my primary operating system for about six months, starting off with Ubuntu. Now I'm looking to explore other options since I recently messed up my system. I'm both a programmer and a gamer, and I have old hard drives formatted as NTFS that I need access to. I also have a Pico Neo 3 VR headset and a separate SSD with Windows 10 solely for VR purposes. Any recommendations for a suitable Linux distribution?

Don't forget to back up your data regularly! Also, maybe try testing out various distros in a VM before you settle on one. Just remember to understand every command you run before hitting enter!

You might want to look into Bazzite as well, especially if you don't mind some learning since it's an atomic distro.

You should definitely check out Nobara! It seems like it would fit your needs perfectly. It's basically Fedora but optimized for gaming, which is great for balancing performance and stability.

I agree, Nobara is a solid choice! It handles gaming well, although it might lag a bit on driver updates. If you want something that's super reliable and less prone to system issues, consider Bazzite instead; it’s more stable because of its read-only core files, but you might have to give up some customization flexibility.

Bazzite would be good if you're worried about system stability, but I think you can manage with Nobara if you just take it slow and focus on setting things up properly!

Yeah, but if you feel comfortable handling terminal commands, CachyOS could be worth trying as well!

If you’re considering other options, Fedora itself is a strong candidate as well for both gaming and development!
