I'm wondering if a high-end AM4 build can safely function without a case or additional cooling fans for a couple of months. Is it feasible, or what's the bare minimum in terms of cooling to keep it safe?

Just be careful about metallic objects around the motherboard pins, and you should be fine. And yes, open-air builds are fine as long as you keep some airflow going with your existing fans!
As long as you have cooling fans on your CPU and GPU, you should be good to go! I just rebuilt a system with only those fans running on a 5900X and RTX 4060, and it didn’t overheat at all.
It’s totally safe, but be prepared for a dust magnet. I've run systems like this with only the GPU and AIO cooler fans for months without issues. Just make sure the setup is in a safe spot away from pets and spills.
Yes, you can definitely run your PC without a case! Just make sure to securely support your GPU to prevent any damage at the PCIe connector. The temperatures tend to be fine during use, as many hardware reviews are done in open setups. Just keep an eye on dust accumulation.
