I'm on the lookout for a Linux distro that works well with my hardware—a Radeon RX 580 and an Intel Xeon E3 1230 v6. I plan to use it mainly for school tasks and some gaming. I want something that offers a decent amount of customizability but is still easy to learn, and importantly, I need to avoid issues that could lead to bricking my PC. I've tried Arch and Mint: I appreciated both, but I found Arch a bit overwhelming, and Mint ended up bricking my system quite easily.

If Mint gave you trouble, consider going for a simpler option like Zorin OS. It’s designed to be user-friendly and has good compatibility for both school tasks and gaming.
Mint is usually a solid choice, but it's interesting to hear you had issues with bricking. Could you share how that happened? It’s rare for Mint to do that unless there was a specific hardware problem or if something went wrong during setup.
You could give CachyOS a shot. It's based on Arch but has kernels optimized for your Xeon, offering a performance boost in CPU-heavy tasks. It does come with a rolling update system, so be cautious, but it has built-in snapshots for safety—you can roll back changes if something goes wrong! Just remember to choose the BTRFS file system when you install it.
I currently have KDE Plasma, so that sounds interesting!
If you had trouble with Mint, you might want to consider Ubuntu. It's user-friendly and has good support for gaming. Plus, with the right drivers, it runs pretty well on your hardware.

I was dual booting and tried to clear up storage by deleting System32, which I quickly realized was a huge mistake!
