I just got myself a new Alienware 16 Aurora laptop with an Intel i7 240H processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 GPU. I've been using Windows my entire life, but I'm really not a fan of Windows 11 due to how much RAM and CPU it uses. The recent experience of almost bricking my system by uninstalling McAfee didn't help either! I'm interested in exploring Linux, especially since I like the idea of more privacy and less tracking from Microsoft. I mainly need the computer for grad school and enjoy gaming on Steam. I've seen a lot of recommendations for Linux Mint. Is Mint a good choice for someone with no coding background?

Don't worry about your lack of coding experience; you'll find that you don't need to know much to get started with Linux. Mint's interface is friendly enough for anyone who hasn't coded before.
You might also want to check out the distro selection page online; it has some great advice for beginners. And remember: Always back up your data and take your time experimenting!
Mint is definitely a solid choice for newcomers! It’s designed to be user-friendly and has a layout similar to Windows 7, which makes the transition smoother. Once you get comfortable, you might want to explore other options like Debian with LXQt for a bit more speed and customization.

Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely look into that selection page and make sure I backup everything before diving in.
