I'm new to Linux and just got a ThinkPad. I'm considering installing a distribution, but I'm not sure which one is best for someone who doesn't know much about programming. I'm eager to learn, but I need something that's user-friendly to start with. Any recommendations?

I jumped into Fedora a few weeks ago as a complete newbie and it’s been great! It runs smoothly and even supports my laptop's tablet function right out of the box. Definitely worth trying while getting used to Linux!

If you're just starting out, I’d recommend looking into Linux Mint, Zorin OS, or Ubuntu. They’re all designed for users with little to no technical background, so you should be good to go without needing to do any programming.

You might want to consider Gentoo or Arch if you're up for a challenge. Their documentation, especially the Arch Wiki, is top-notch for learning, but they do require regular maintenance. However, if you want something easy to set up and use right away, stick with Mint, Debian, or Ubuntu.

Linux Mint is a fantastic choice for beginners. It's super user-friendly and has a familiar interface for anyone coming from Windows.

Mint is great, but if you're into gaming, you might want to check out Nobara. It's a Fedora-based distro that's tailored for gaming with good driver support.
