Hey everyone! I'm hoping to play modded Minecraft on my old laptop, the Asus ROG G703GI, which is still working great. I previously tried Linux Mint but struggled to find the right drivers; my FPS was way lower compared to Windows. Can anyone recommend the best drivers for this model? I'm open to trying any Linux distribution that's good for gaming. Thanks!

The latest proprietary drivers for your Nvidia GTX 1080 Mobile are version 580.105.08. While Linux Mint might lag a bit with the latest drivers, you can still use the Driver Manager in System Settings to install them. Just avoid the nouveau or nvidia-open drivers if possible! Any distro should work fine, though.

Thanks for the tips! I'll give that a shot on Mint and see how it goes.

The GTX 1080M should work with the nouveau driver, but if you're having issues, definitely try the proprietary Nvidia driver. Just a heads up, you might need an older version since the latest may not support 10 series cards anymore.

Thanks for the info! I'll check out the older version and let you know how it turns out.

Manjaro Linux is a solid choice! It's great at automatically installing the best Nvidia drivers, which should help with your gaming performance.
