Hey folks! I'm currently upgrading my PC for 3D modeling and just got a new RTX 5060 from MSI to pair with my Intel i7 9700. I'm thinking about switching to an i7 14700K, but I'm a bit torn on which motherboard to choose. Is it essential to go for a Z motherboard, or can I save some cash with a B chipset? Appreciate any advice!

Honestly, going for an i7 14700K might be overkill for your RTX 5060. If you're set on the LGA 1700, an i5 14400F could be a better fit and still handle 3D rendering pretty well. You might even consider something like a 9060 XT 16GB; that combo could be great!
Are you planning to use DDR4 or DDR5 for your build? Also, where are you based? If you’re in a place with limited options, that matters too. Generally, you don't strictly need a Z680/Z790 board unless you're overclocking. B series boards work fine, especially with non-K CPUs. If you can find a 14700 or 14700F for less, I'd consider that rather than the K version!
If the price difference isn't massive, you might want to check out the Intel Core Ultra 7 265K. It could be a solid alternative for your setup.
