Best Practices for Building a Simple WordPress Site for a Restaurant Chain

I'm in the process of creating a website for a local restaurant chain that owns two different restaurants, and they want it built on WordPress. I usually work with Webflow or Next.js, so it's been a while since I've dabbled in WordPress. I need advice on the best approach for a basic, brochure-style website that can also be easily cloned for their other location in the future. They want to have the ability to make updates themselves after I've set everything up. Also, what are some solid hosting options? Thanks in advance!

For a restaurant's website, WordPress is a great choice because it’s easy to duplicate and customize. Just steer clear of WordPress.com as it limits your options. I recommend using WordPress.org with a reliable hosting provider. Personally, I’ve had great experiences with SetraHost due to their supportive customer service, but if you're looking for a more managed service, Kinsta and WPEngine are popular, even if they’re pricier than typical options.

You have a ton of hosting choices! I personally love Kinsta, although their prices have gone up. You can also find many other affordable hosts that will serve your needs well. Just make sure to create a child theme after picking a base theme, and get comfortable using Gutenberg, the native block editor, to customize your layout.

Honestly, for a simple site, even the free plan on WordPress.com might suffice, but you'll face more limitations. I'm actually moving my site from WordPress.com to GitHub Pages for better control and no monthly fees. Just keep in mind that with GitHub, you can choose to make your repository public or private, so be cautious if you have sensitive information.
