Best Solutions for Unattended Remote Access with an MSP

I'm managing around 260 Windows PCs and we have an external managed service provider handling our patching, monitoring, and support through their own remote management tool. For security and compliance reasons, they can't give us access to their console. However, we need a way to occasionally connect to these machines after hours or when no one is around, which means we need unattended access. We're looking for a solution that allows full local admin rights, so we can install software and handle UAC elevation ourselves during sessions, and we also want to provide limited access to external partners for specific machines, like POS systems. TeamViewer is a top contender since other partners are using it, but I'm curious if anyone has suggestions or experiences to share about coexisting with an MSP while using another remote tool? Any best practices or potential pitfalls?

Windows 10 Pro has Easy Assist built in for temporary access, and it's pretty easy to use. Just remember that if VPN access isn't feasible, Chrome Remote Desktop could be another choice for unattended access.

If you're open to budget-friendly options, RustDesk is a solid free alternative, and it supports various operating systems which can be a bonus!

TeamViewer can handle your needs, but be cautious about costs—especially for 260 endpoints. Look into RustDesk for a self-hosted option or ScreenConnect for more granular control at a lower price.

Check your Microsoft licensing; you might already have access to Intune for remote support, which could simplify things for you. It's worth investigating what options you have available.

I've had great experiences with Splashtop for this exact situation! It allows you to invite users in with limited access, and it's more affordable than TeamViewer. It integrates well with multiple setups too, so it's definitely worth considering.
