Best Upgrade Options for My Ryzen 5 2600 Gaming Setup?

I'm currently using a Ryzen 5 2600 CPU along with an AMD Radeon RX 6600XT graphics card and 32GB of RAM running at 2133MHz. My motherboard is a Gigabyte B550M DS3H. Although I don't need more than 60fps for gaming on my 1080p display, I'm facing performance issues. In Escape from Tarkov, I'm only getting around 30-40fps and had to stop playing Spider-Man 2 due to performance drops during intense scenes. I'm also looking for better performance in grand strategy games like Victoria 3, Rimworld, and HoI4. I'm considering upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5600 or 5600X and would like your input on whether that's a good choice. My budget is capped at $200 CAD, so if you have other recommendations, I'd appreciate the advice!

You might want to check out the Ryzen 5 5600 or 5600X. I’ve had a good experience with the 5600X, especially for gaming. It performs well at 1440p and fits nicely within your budget if you keep an eye out for sales. Also, make sure you're keeping your BIOS updated before making the switch! That can help ensure the new CPU runs smoothly with your motherboard.

Just a heads-up, I wouldn't recommend the 5700 series because they have less L3 cache compared to the other 5000 series models, which can hurt gaming performance.

For what you’re looking to achieve, the 5600 or 5600X really seems like your best bet. They’re both solid upgrades from the 2600 and should help with your gaming frame rates without breaking the bank!

I would definitely lean towards the Ryzen 5 5600X. It's a great CPU for gaming and should give you a solid performance boost. You can often find it under your budget if it goes on sale. Just remember to check for BIOS updates before swapping out your CPUs!
