Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice on upgrading my gaming setup to better handle 1440p at 240Hz. Right now, I'm using an AM4 socket with an ASRock B550M Steel Legend motherboard and a Ryzen 7 5700X processor, along with 32GB of 3200MHz RAM and an RX 6750 XT graphics card. Most of my gaming is focused on FPS games like Counter-Strike 2, and I also play The Finals and Battlefield 6. I just got a new 1440p 240Hz monitor, and I want to achieve smooth gameplay with stable 1% lows while playing CS2. Currently, I'm getting around 180 to 250 FPS at mid settings with 1920x1440 resolution, but I'm looking to upgrade for even smoother performance. I have around 700 euros to spend for either an RX 9070 XT or an RTX 5070. Later, I plan to upgrade to AM5, which will cost about 900 euros. What would you recommend as the best upgrade?

I’d suggest keeping your RX 6750 XT and focusing on upgrading your CPU instead, especially since the games you mentioned tend to rely heavily on CPU performance. Even at 1440p, a CPU-bound game won't become less demanding just because you have a better GPU. Upgrading your GPU while sticking with your current CPU will likely give you minimal performance improvements. So, maybe look into a higher-end AM4 or even an AM5 processor when you're ready.

Got it! How can I tell if a game is more CPU or GPU intensive?

Is the AM4 upgrade still viable, or should I wait for AM5?
