Hi everyone! I teach in a classroom with 20 iMacs connected to the college's network, along with one instructor workstation that I use during lessons. I'm looking for a simple way to share my screen with my students. The student workstations are set up in such a way that each one creates a separate user account, meaning they can't access the same account on different machines or transfer files between them due to some IT restrictions. I'm aware that many dedicated screen-sharing solutions come with a price tag that our department can't afford. I've heard of options like Discord, but I'm curious if I could set up a private account just for my class. Ideally, I want a solution that allows students to view my screen via a web browser since they all have access to Safari. I don't need audio—just a way for them to see my screen content. Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

You might want to consider using Zoom through a web browser for screen sharing—it can work really well! You just need to set up a meeting and share the link with your students. Although it might not be the cleanest option, it should get the job done. Another thing to think about is if you have any kind of larger display, like a projector or a TV, that you could project your screen onto instead?
Have you heard of watchparty.me? It could be a fun way to share your screen with the class! You should definitely check it out.
Thanks! I’ll take a look at that.
If you have a Smartboard, you might want to see if that works for sharing your screen, though I've heard they're hit or miss. It’s worth asking your IT department if they can help with any other solutions too!
The Smartboard is super unreliable, unfortunately. It feels like they’re always swamped when I need support.
If I’m understanding correctly, you could potentially share a screen over FaceTime. Another option is Apple Remote Desktop, which allows you to share your screen to all the students' computers for under $100. You might want to ask your IT if they have it already. VNC is another tool to consider for screen sharing.
I appreciate the suggestions! If we have Apple Remote Desktop, can it be installed on just my computer to share to all, or do all the machines need it?
What about using Google Meet? It can work great for screen sharing, and it should run fine in a browser! Also, if you’re doing slideshows, I’ve had success with Nearpod in my classes.
Definitely sounds promising! I’ll need to explore those options more.

I'm not a huge fan of Zoom, to be honest. Just looking for something that feels smoother.
