I'm looking for some help in building a website for my son's newly started charter fishing company in Alaska. Since he's quite busy with running the business, I thought I could step in and help him create the site. I'm retired and have some tech skills, but I'm not a pro by any means. If you had to guide someone like my mom looking for an easy-to-use platform to build a website, what would you recommend?

For a quick start, have a look at WordPress.com. It's free initially, and there are plenty of guides to help you. Just keep in mind that while I’m not a fan of WordPress, it definitely does the job for basic sites!
If you're open to it, WordPress could be a great fit too. It’s pretty easy to set up and has tons of resources, which would help for any needs your son might have.
For processing payments, look at platforms like Wix or Shopify—they've got it all integrated so you won’t have to worry about the technical stuff.
If you're feeling adventurous and want a bit of a challenge, learning some vanilla HTML/CSS could be fun! Just get a hosting plan and start building a basic site from scratch. It’s rewarding once you get the hang of it!
For a simple landing page, I think Wix is a solid choice! It's user-friendly and quick to set up, which could be perfect for your son's business.
I agree! Wix is really straightforward, and you can also consider Squarespace for a more polished look.
Yeah, WordPress is versatile and you can find tutorials for just about everything.
