Building a PC Behind a Wall – Thunderbolt or USB4?

I'm planning to build a new PC but want to place it on the other side of a wall, about 4-5 feet away from my desk. Ideally, I'd like to run a single cable to connect everything using a Thunderbolt or USB4 hub on the other side. I'm focusing on an AM5 motherboard that can support three monitors at the desk, one of which needs to be at least 2k resolution, along with a few peripherals. I've found the MSI X870 GAMING PLUS on sale for $200, which supports USB4 at 40Gbps. It seems like a solid choice compared to getting a cheaper motherboard and a separate card. Should I go for this motherboard, or am I overthinking my options?

It sounds like you could use a USB-C docking station or hub that connects through the wall. This way, you can plug all your peripherals into the hub. Just be cautious about how your GPU will handle the video signal—make sure it's compatible!
