I'm considering whether to run my new 5080 at 1440p or 4K. I know it can handle 4K from the benchmarks out there, but they usually use ultra settings and ray tracing, which I don't plan to utilize. I'm looking for insight on the kind of frames per second (FPS) I can realistically expect at 4K with optimized settings. Specifically, if I turn off ray tracing, lower a couple of settings from ultra to high, and potentially use features like frame generation and DLSS, how well can I perform in terms of FPS?

The 5080 is definitely capable of 4K gaming, especially with DLSS enabled. If you're really aiming for high FPS in shooter games, 1440p might be the better option. My 4080 runs 4K on the living room TV just fine with some settings dialed back. Ultra settings on 1440p feel smoother for me, too.
I have a 5080, and I've been gaming at both 1440p (280Hz) and 4K (120Hz). I can easily hit 120 FPS on 4K without any issues by just tweaking the settings a bit. Honestly, I've found 4K to be smoother than getting high FPS at 1440p on my setup.

So you usually get over 100 FPS in 4K? That’s what I'm aiming for!
