Can a laptop screen damaged by banana mush be fixed?

I recently had a mishap with my laptop due to a banana being left in the bag for a couple of weeks. My friend borrowed my laptop bag and didn't realize the banana was inside, causing it to turn into mush. When I put my laptop back in the bag, the screen ended up looking weird, almost like it had liquid damage. I took it to a tech, who said the screen is beyond repair and replacing it would cost more than the laptop itself. I'm curious if there's any chance cleaning the inside would help or if I should just accept that it's ruined. Should I even consider getting a second opinion or is it too late?

Honestly, that mushy banana was probably pretty hazardous for electronics. But, you could consider a DIY approach if you're up for it. Most screens are not too complicated to replace if you're willing to take it on yourself. Just remember to be gentle with the connectors!

Your friend should definitely help you out with a new laptop bag at the very least! As for the screen, I wouldn’t hold out too much hope if a professional said it’s gone, unfortunately. Maybe check out if any other techs around town could give it a look, but typically, it leads to a new screen altogether.

It sounds like that banana really did a number on your laptop! While you might find a replacement screen online at a decent price, labor costs can add up. You could either replace it yourself or just use an external monitor for now. It is unfortunate, but these types of incidents can be seriously damaging.

Unfortunately, once the screen has liquid damage, it usually means a full replacement is necessary. If a tech already told you it’s not fixable, it might be a good idea to just prepare for a new screen or laptop.
