I've been using my school Google account to store Google Photos for over 7 years, mainly because it offered unlimited free storage. However, my admin recently blocked access to Google Photos completely. This means I can't retrieve any of the pictures or videos I've uploaded between 2018 and 2021. I'm wondering if there's any way around this blockage to upload my photos elsewhere? I'm hesitant to contact my tech admin about it but might have to in the end.

Have you tried accessing your Google Photos from a different device or network? Sometimes it helps to connect from somewhere that's not restricted. If you can manage it, try downloading your photos onto a local drive or thumb drive.
It's an interesting situation since you created those photos while using school property. It's still your work, generally speaking, but some schools have their own policies. If needed, you could write to your admin asking politely for access to download your data.
Honestly, it might be best to just face the music and admit it was a questionable idea to use your school account for personal photos. If nothing else works, you could try appealing to your admin's better nature. Good luck!
You should look into using Google Takeout. It allows you to download all your Google data, including photos, as long as you can access your account. Just be aware that if your access is blocked outright, it may not work for you.
I just tried Google Takeout, and it seems to be working! I'm just waiting for the download link now.
Remember, if your account is school-managed and you’re no longer technically a student or the account is locked, it may be tough to get access back. It might be worth discussing with your IT department, perhaps bringing them some treats to sweeten the deal!

I did check from a few devices, but it all shows the same 'blocked' message. I'll give it one last shot on my personal laptop, though.
