I'm trying to find a way to automate turning Hey Siri on and off on my iPhone, primarily to avoid conflicts with my HomePods. When I have Hey Siri enabled, it often interrupts requests meant for the HomePod. For example, if I say 'HS lights,' the HomePod correctly manages the lights in the room, but my iPhone sometimes jumps in and gets confused, asking which room I'm referencing instead of handing off the request.
In the car, I'd like to have Hey Siri available, and the same goes for when I'm using my AirPods. I've noticed it works flawlessly on my Vision Pro since it's usually the main device in use at the time.
So, is there a way through Shortcuts or any similar app to have my iPhone automatically toggle Hey Siri based on whether I'm connected to certain devices like CarPlay or AirPods? Or even have it activate only when I'm using Bluetooth audio devices? Note that I'm currently on a 16 Pro with iOS 18.7.1.

I don’t think you can automate that specific function of Hey Siri. You might want to check out the Shortcuts subreddit for any tricks others have shared, though!

Thanks! I hadn’t thought about looking for specific threads there. I'll spend some time digging into that app.
