Hey everyone! I'm dealing with a tough situation at home. A family member has a serious online gambling problem and it's affecting my mental health. They don't care about anyone else and just spend all their time gambling. I need some advice—can I block all gambling websites from my Wi-Fi? I'm really tired of discussing this issue with my family or the person who's causing the stress. Any tips would be hugely appreciated!

Yes, you can use a blacklist or access list. Just Google your router model and look for gambling IPs that you can block. But just a heads up, it might not fully prevent access. If they really want to gamble, they might use mobile data or find public Wi-Fi.

Exactly my worry! I keep seeing these gambling ads pop up everywhere. It's stressing me out, especially since one of my family members is still in college.

You have a couple of options: using a whitelist approach, where you only allow specific sites, or a blacklist where you block specific ones. Try searching for tutorials on YouTube or Google; they usually have step-by-step instructions that can help you set it up.

Thanks! I’ll give that a shot, fingers crossed it works!

Using tools like Pi-hole or AdGuard can help block ads and sites, but they can be a bit technical. You might need assistance setting those up if you decide to go that route.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’m not sure I’m tech-savvy enough for Pi-hole, but I might give it a try if I can find help.

Yes, it’s definitely possible, but you’ll need some tech know-how. You can use parental control apps which let you filter content, but they usually have to be installed on individual devices. Another option is to call your ISP and explain the issues; they might help block gambling sites for you. If you’re up for it, there are also self-hosted options like PiHole, but those can be a bit complex. Just remember, it won't completely stop someone from gambling if they disable Wi-Fi.

I get that it won’t solve everything, but I hate that these gambling ads keep showing up on our devices. It's affecting my work and school stuff. Thanks for the tips; maybe I’ll try to manage some of the settings myself.

It really depends on your router, but in general, yes, you can block access to certain websites or IP addresses. However, blocking all gambling websites at once is tricky since consumer routers usually require you to manually block each site individually. So it might take some time to set it all up.

Yeah, I’ve looked into it too, and every guide I found says you basically have to do it for each site by hand. Pretty tedious.
