I recently bought a MacBook Pro and unfortunately spilled some liquid on the screen about 30 days ago. I haven't purchased AppleCare yet but I'm still eligible. Is it possible to buy AppleCare now and then get it repaired under the plan? Or will Apple be able to detect the pre-existing damage when I try to get it fixed?

Generally, you can sign up for AppleCare without a device inspection when you do it online. AppleCare usually covers accidental damage as long as it’s not deemed intentional or excessive. Just be aware of this when you get it fixed!
There's typically a 30-day window to sign up for AppleCare, so they're aware some people will damage their devices within that time. However, it seems they don’t require you to declare that your device is undamaged when signing up.
Just a heads up, Apple does run diagnostics, especially for liquid damage, before letting you purchase AppleCare+. Even if it might seem like a sneaky way to get coverage, claiming pre-existing damage could be seen as fraud. You might want to check your credit card benefits for repair options instead.
If you're curious, go into Settings > General and check the AppleCare section to see if you can add it there. But keep in mind if you’ve already bought it, getting a repair could be a bit tricky!
Absolutely, you can still get AppleCare! I had a similar situation with my iPad, and it worked out just fine. Apple is a huge corporation and they won't lose sleep over a little coverage for your device.
