Hey everyone! I recently lost all the extra cables for my Seasonic GX-850 PSU, and I'm wondering if it's possible to purchase new ones. Do I need to get official Seasonic cables, or can I use third-party options? Also, is there a chance I might need to replace the whole PSU instead? I'm upgrading my GPU from a 6800 XT to a 5070 Ti and noticed that the new one requires a 3x8 cable instead of the 2x8 that my previous GPU used. I'm pretty nervous about potentially damaging anything, so any advice would be super appreciated. I'm located in the Netherlands, EU, if that helps!

Absolutely, it’s possible to replace those cables. Just make sure you do a bit of research first to identify the right ones. There’s usually a compatibility list on the PSU’s website. I lost one of my Corsair cables and their site was super helpful giving me a chart of compatible cables. I opted for a first-party replacement just to be safe; a few extra bucks can really save your components!
You might also want to check CableMod's compatibility list to see if your PSU works with their RT-Series cables. If it does, you should have no trouble finding replacements, and they usually offer reliable options that fit well with Seasonic products.
Thanks for the info! Seems that the GX-850 is indeed compatible with the RT-series cable. Is this a common price range, or does CableMod provide premium cables?
You can definitely reach out to Seasonic's customer service! They're known for being really helpful and should be able to guide you to the right cables. I had a similar issue with a different model and they hooked me up with the cables I needed for around $45. For the money-saving aspect, it could be worth trying them first!
Thanks, I'll give their customer service a try. It would save me quite a bit of money if they can sell me the cable I need.
I fear of the same, frying expensive components. I’ll keep looking on their website! I should’ve done more research beforehand; now I'm stuck doing it on my 10-year-old phone, and their website keeps crashing my browser.
